Cats! But not the musical, presented by Dr. Buck Drummond

Cats. What do they want? What do they need? Why do they do that? These little predators can be fascinating and frustrating in equal measure. Trying to see things from their point of view can enrich your feline relationships. Learn about a veterinarian’s perspective on Felis domesticus on Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in a Zoom virtual meeting.

Dr. Drummond will start this presentation with the topic of cat behavior and will include more immediate concerns about caring for cats during the COVID-19 pandemic- Can cats get the coronavirus? Can your pets give you coronavirus? How do you get veterinary care for your pet in current conditions? There will be time for questions about your own beloved familiar.

Dr. Buck Drummond has been practicing veterinary medicine for 30 years. He attended the University of Georgia for both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees. He completed internship training in Los Angeles, specializing in emergency and trauma care, running a busy overnight ER there for the next 15 years.

Dr Drummond returned to the east coast in 2008 and has worked in various kinds of practices, from rural Georgia to inner city DC, most recently with a focus on law enforcement working dogs. He sits on the board of called Paws of Honor, a non-profit that provides veterinary care to retired federal service dogs which started in Washington, DC, and is in the process of expanding nationally. Dr. Drummond has been to Capitol Hill, the White House and CIA headquarters in this capacity. He moved to Essex last year and is now at the Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook.
