Author Jeff Romano, free illustrated talk on day hiking in New England, 7 p.m. May 23, Essex Library, 33 West Ave., focus on the region’s best hiking destinations, advice, insights, and answers to questions on how and where to plan your next hiking adventure. The presentation will also include information on New England wildflowers, birds and other wildlife. Copies of his books will be available for purchase.
