Let’s Celebrate the Arts Columbus Day Weekend

The Arts Center Killingworth returns to the Madison Connecticut Town Green to present its Annual Autumn Outdoor Arts Festival on Saturday, October 10, 10-5pm, and Sunday, October 11, 12-5pm (rain date Monday, October 12, 10-5pm) with new and original artwork and fine crafts by established and emerging artists from throughout Connecticut and the tri-state region. The Festival is located at Boston Post Road (Route 1) and Copse Road, and includes representational and abstract painting, as well as photography, mixed media, and sculpture. Artisans exhibiting on the Green feature those working in pottery, wood, fabric and wool, and jewelry designs in sterling silver, precious/semi-precious metals, stones and other fine materials.
The Arts Festival includes a corresponding seven-week Group Show at Spectrum Art Gallery and Artisans Store at 61 Main Street, Centerbrook through November 8. A juried selection of work by artists participating on the Green are presented and include painting, photography and mixed media collage. There are also many new, one-of-a-kind fine crafts to discover at Spectrum’s Artisans Store.
The Festival includes social distancing measures, with the visiting public asked to wear masks at the event and to use hand sanitizer before entering each individual booth or visiting artists under one of the larger tents. The Arts Center Killingworth, a nonprofit founded in 2004, organizes outdoor festivals, and offers classes, camps and workshops for children, teens and adults. The Center provides volunteer opportunities for adults to become more involved with the arts and the community, while providing teens the opportunity to earn community service hours. The Center offers tax-deductible Membership which provides unique benefits including class and workshop discounts and advertising and fee discounts for artists, local and regional businesses.
Spectrum Gallery and Store in Centerbrook opened in the spring of 2014 and presents approximately six annual exhibits, showcasing representational and abstract painting, mixed media, sculpture and photography from local, regional and tri-state artists. The Artisans Store offers fine crafts in fabric, glass, ceramics, pottery, wood, and jewelry.
