Myths and Legends Exhibit
July 23, 2019 - October 14, 2019

The Myths and Legends exhibit explores centuries of folklore that have defined the Connecticut River Valley region.
Discover some of the extraordinary legends from the Connecticut River Valley and learn how the Charter Oak tree became a symbol of Connecticut’s bravado and independence. Peer into Powers of Darkness through stories that show the darker side of life along the River. See how lack of understanding about transmittable diseases spurred tales of vampirism in a small New England town and the creation of the Dummerston Vampire story. And listen to a creation story narrated by a Native American storyteller who explains how Mount Sugarloaf was formed.
