Online: Creating a Journal of Art
September 28, 2021 @ 12:30 pm - October 26, 2021 @ 2:30 pm
$140This class will explore a compilation of ideas, about letting go, loving imperfection and its allure in the world of the creatives—-a place to make mistakes, explore freely and not worry about a finished piece of art.
You will start by collecting odd bits of ephemera. ‘Go to places ‘ are junky antique stores filled with old ledgers, vintage music sheets, diaries, magazines, canceled postage stamps, etc. Then make marks, patterns, & symbols on the vintage ephemera, onion skin or deli sheets. Learn to embellish papers using gel printing, coffee staining, stamping and other techniques to grunge up the background papers. This is your starting point to layout a page.
The real fun is to randomly choose torn or cut papers and to look for images, letters and words to have cut out ahead of time to add to each page. No theme is necessary for the entire journal, just do a few pages at a time. With enough found & made “art stash” it will all creatively fall into place. See the 2 sample art pages, one a random grouping of circles and the other with a message and fun image cut out years ago!
So B R E A T H E,relax andenjoy! Material list available.
Extra perk! An in-person Gallery class is also available to join on Wednesdays at the same time for a discounted fee of $50, for those who want to spend more time creating their art journals.
