Roots on the River- Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons Concert
September 18, 2016
$10 – $12Come down to the Connecticut River Museum on Sunday afternoon, September 18th for a riverside concert by renowned roots musicians Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons! These songster revivalists perform a variety of field hollers, fiddle & banjo breakdowns, early jazz and hokum that has delighted audiences in concerts and workshops nationwide for the past three years. Their tours serve as an extension of their work as teachers and community organizers in their home of Seattle Washington. With their unique integration of performance, education and modern-day folklore, the duo is redefining the role of a songster for the 21st century. In January of 2016, they released their second album and earned 1st place in the International Blues Challenge’s solo/duo category. Our opening acts will be Ramblin’ Dan Stevens and Clayton Allen.
Porky Pete’s Barbecue will be on the Museum lawn selling pulled pork sandwiches and grilled fare, and concertgoers are invited to bring chairs or blankets for festival-style seating. The Museum will provide a cash bar offering beer and wine.
Tickets for this event are $12, $10 for Museum members. They can be bought at the gate or purchased from the Museum’s online shopfront.
