Stories in the Stitches with Connecticut Historical Society

Essex Library begins its 2-part Voices of History series with Stories in the Stitches; a craft program for kids ages 5-8, presented by Connecticut Historical Society and Museum, on Thursday, June 22, from 4-5:15 PM, held at the Essex Library.

What kinds of stories can we learn from a quilt? How can the smallest details help reveal those stories? In this program, children will look closely at a variety of quilts and discover some interesting tales from Connecticut’s past. Then, children will have the opportunity to explore and recreate popular quilting patterns, and design their own quilt square with a fun craft!

This program is made possible in part by a $2,000 Summer Enrichment Grant, issued by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.
