TREES IN THE RIGGING 2021 CANCELLED

Following weeks of careful monitoring, the Essex Board of Trade, Connecticut River Museum and Essex Historical Society have reached the painful decision not to hold the Trees in the Rigging parades this year, either on land or water.

Based on the safety of family gatherings, people traveling that weekend and health protocols, we need to alter plans for this year and possibly ‘re-imagine’ the event for 2022.

We look forward to a post-Covid world in which we can celebrate the season safely.

We deeply appreciate everyone’s past participation and their devotion to this annual event. Hopefully we all can re-think how to ‘ring in the holidays’ in fresh, safe ways next year.
