Morning Meditation at The Pratt House

The Pratt House 19 West Avenue, Essex

Please join us for Morning Community Meditation on the grounds at PRATT HOUSE select Saturdays this summer.  We will meet up outside, in the garden (weather permitting) and enjoy the morning air and sounds of nature. Meditation offers so many benefits, including stress reduction, anxiety reduction, improves focus and boost cognitive function. Adding to these benefits- will be our surroundings - one of Essex’s historical and beautiful locations - the grounds of the Pratt House. The June dates are the 14th and 21st at 10 am.  Suggested donation -$10. Lead by Eden of Garden of Readings, start your weekend off with some inner peace & kindness. Eden and I are so excited to be able to provide this activity in such a lovely location.  A huge thank you to the Essex Historical Society. In the event of inclement weather, we will post updates on our IG page by 9 am and will meet at the shop. Please bring a yoga mat, towel, pillow or chair to sit on. We hope you can join us at this meaningful community event.

RiverQuest Kid’s Cruise

Connecticut River Museum 67 Main St, Essex

On select Saturday mornings at 10:00 am, we offer a special cruise, designed for young children and their parents, grandparents, etc., aboard RiverQuest. On this cruise, we will show young children how to use binoculars, teach them about the birds we see, nautical terms, river ecology, and other points of interest. This is a fun cruise to introduce young children to the fragile beauty of the Connecticut River and it allows kids to be kids! For kids ages 2 to 12 ticket price will be only $10, ages 12 to 100 only $20.  Online booking only. 10:00 – 11:00 am: May 24 June 21 July 19 August 2

Buddy Up!

Essex Library 33 West Ave, Essex

Program for kids ages 4-8 & mentors age 13-18.  Level up your reading skills, work on your summer reading goals & beat the Summer Slide with a Teen Buddy! Build social skills, reading fluency, and confidence! Each teen volunteer (ages 13-18) is paired with a younger reader (ages 4-8) for a relaxed hour of literacy fun. Essex Library programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required to ensure that each reader is matched with a mentor. Click here to register.

Story Time at Essex Island

Program open to children of all ages and their caregivers. Join the Essex Library Children’s Librarian for a fun story time at Essex Island! Bring a blanket to sit on, and a snack to enjoy, while we read books, dance around, and sing songs! Story time will take place on the lawn on Essex Island (behind Siren). Essex Library programs are free and open to the public. No registration is required. In the event of rain, story time will not be held.
