
In this 5-week class start by examining the still life’s of Monet, Van Gogh, Matisse and Moroni through visuals and discussion. Then studying visuals of contemporary approaches to the Still Life. Learn how to make gel prints with acrylic paint on paper for your backgrounds including cutting and tearing of designed papers for your still life. Focus on how to approach vessels in the still life collage through sketching, tracing and cutting out patterns. Finally, learn how to overlay the still life components over your finished background including placement and composition and the application of paint, highlighted areas and shading. Complete the still life discussing with the class your process, composition and materials used. Material list available upon registration. Regina Thomas’ collage and mixed media art is a mélange of visual stimuli, colors, and shapes involving different genres from the representational to the abstract. These multi-layered works portray her view of the world, never realistic, injecting her own narratives, metaphors, and icons.
