Fluid painting involves layering acrylic paints of different densities and incorporating certain additives which can result in gorgeous combinations of paint, cells, and lacing...or mud depending upon what you put together! Participants learn how to design and construct a heart shaped project created with hand dyed silk from Uzbekistan and Australian fine merino wool.  This technique, called Nuno felting, can also be used to make beautiful silk scarves, hats, vests or jackets.  Even beginning felts can learn to apply these materials in a very painterly manner. Does your child love to draw? In a two-part series, local author and illustrator Mary Jo Helchowski will help children create their very own children's book. In Session 1, children will learn about what makes an illustration successful, and use what they learn to create their own illustrations. In Session 2, children will learn the steps in the illustration process and see their illustrations from Session 1 come together in a book. Every child will leave with a copy of their own creation to take home.
