    Essex Park & Recreation is pleased to announce the return of the Essex Summer Concert Series, a beloved community tradition featuring free, live outdoor music on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. The concert series will take place Wednesdays from July 8 through August 12, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, alternating weekly between Main Street Park in Essex Village and Ivoryton Village Green.     Since 1991 the annual program of SummerSings, co-sponsored by Con Brio and Cappella Cantorum, has provided an opportunity to enjoy choral works without the pressure of preparing for performance. It offers the experience to work with acclaimed conductors and professional soloists. The 2025 season was tremendously successful with over 500 singers participating.  Note that the Brahms Requiem (July 6) will be sung in German, as composed: Ein deutsches Requiem (Edition Peters).

    The 49th season of Essex Winter Series will conclude with its rescheduled January concert on November 8, 2026 at Valley Regional High School. Having crafted a season that weaves together stellar performances with the celebration of the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, Artistic Director and flutist Tara Helen O’Connor gathers friends for a program called Timeless Bonds & New Horizons. Joining Tara for the inaugural Mihae Lee Legacy Concert are Ani Kavafian, violin; Peter Wiley, cello; and Shai Wosner, piano ... four leading chamber musicians in an unforgettable collaboration to perform works by J.S.Bach, Mel Bonis, and Valerie Coleman, culminating in Schubert’s ravishing Trio in B-flat Major, D. 898.
