DESCRIPTION:As this season keeps blooming\, we are excited to announce the EAA Spring Juried Show with a floral theme for our second show of the 2026 Exhibition Season! \nKEY DATES\nEntries (in person only): Monday\, May 11 from 2 to 6 pm\nNotification of Acceptance on website:  Thursday\, May 14\nShow starts: Friday\, May 15\nGallery Hours: Wednesdays thru Sundays\, 1 pm to 5 pm\nOpening Reception: Friday\, May 22 from 6 pm to 8 pm\, with awards at 7 pm\nPickup unsold art: Monday\, June 8 \nABOUT THE JUROR\nNancy Whitcher is a Connecticut-based\, classically trained artist working across monotype printmaking\, clay sculpture\, and photography. She maintains an active exhibition schedule that includes museums\, juried national\, regional\, and local exhibitions\, as well as commercial galleries in both solo and group shows. Her work is held in permanent and private collections. Whitcher is frequently invited to serve as an art juror\, visiting artist\, mentor\, guest speaker\, and award consultant. She has completed residencies at Zea Mays Printmaking and the Vermont Studio Center. An elected member and President Emeritus of Connecticut Women Artists\, she also holds elected memberships in the New Haven Paint & Clay Club\, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts\, CT+6\, and Zea Mays Printmaking. Her teaching and professional experience includes roles as a resident artist and mentor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, visiting artist engagements at institutions such as the Center for Contemporary Printmaking\, Kansas City Art Institute\, Santa Fe Clay\, Wesleyan Potters\, and Gaisteo Street Gallery\, as well as work as the Tomie dePaola High School Art Portfolio Award Administrator and MFA Graduate Advisor for Philippine Women’s University in Manila.  https://www.ncwhitcher.net/ \nABOUT THE GANTNER GALLERY FEATURED ARTIST \nJill Abele Butcher is a Connecticut-based painter with a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Drake University in Des Moines\, Iowa\, and a distinguished career as a retired art teacher. Her work has been widely exhibited in both juried and invitational settings\, including the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts\, Mystic Museum of Art\, New Britain Museum of American Art’s “Nor’easter” exhibition\, Lyme Art Association\, Essex Art Association\, and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club\, among others\, with additional appearances in national and regional exhibitions such as the Cooperstown National Juried Show and a four-person family exhibition at Hoxie Gallery in Westerly\, Rhode Island. She has also presented solo and small group exhibitions at the Harmon Fine Arts Center at Drake University and the John Slade Ely House. Her painting practice reflects decades of experience and a commitment to continual evolution\, guided by a search for strong composition rooted in line\, form\, movement\, and design. Avoiding confinement to a single style or palette\, her work explores the interplay of light\, shadow\, and color\, flattening the picture plane through pattern while balancing traditional and contemporary approaches. Through this synthesis\, she aims to evoke both strength and mystery\, engaging viewers on an emotional and intellectual level. \nAs a reminder\, the EAA Spring Open Show runs until Saturday\, May 9th. \n
