J Alden Clothiers

J. Alden Clothiers open its doors in 1993, and our intention has always been to offer the finest clothing and furnishings, while providing our clients the highest measure of attention possible.

We have always been fortunate to have a large clientele from the Connecticut shore and from around the United States. Our business continues to grow thanks to the influx of new families moving to the Essex area as well as the increased number of visitors through the Internet.

Since our inception, J. Alden has also featured classic, yet unique and updated womens wear. However, it wasn't until Amy D'Alessio developed J. Alden for Women in 2015 that brought the addition of more interesting and trend setting clothing, as well as gifts, jewelry, and candles, and health and beauty accessories.

Our men's collections feature such brands as Hart Schaffner Marx, Peter Millar, Southern Tide, Duck Head, and Martin Dingman. For women, Nic & Zoe, Tyler Boe, Barefoot Dreams, and Spartina round out the selections.

In addition we offer tailoring to insure the proper fit. Our cobbler is also available to assist with shoe repairs and reconditioning.
