Offered in collaboration with Essex Library and Ivoryton Library\, EHS hosts this quarterly book club to explore the state’s past through both fiction and non-fiction works\, highlighting key events\, figures\, and themes that shaped the state or played a larger role in America’s history. We will focus on works that illuminate the bring marginalized stories to the forefront\, offering a deeper understanding of Connecticut’s diverse history. Benn. James Benn is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and has an MLS degree from Southern Connecticut State University. SUMMARY:Digging for Good with Essex Library & Essex Historical Society
DESCRIPTION:Program for kids and teens ages 10-18. \nEssex Library Association and Essex Historical Society invite children and young adults\, with their parents\, to join the team from Digging for Good in Haddam\, CT to ‘dig’ on Hills Academy’s grounds\, using metal detectors to find buried objects. \nDigging for Good will provide metal detecting tools to find objects embedded in front lawn of 1832 Hill’s Academy: a school that operated for at least 80 years. Anything found will be donated to Essex Historical Society\, and may later be placed on exhibit. \nDigging for Good members will record a video\, as well as take photos of the interesting finds.\nPlease dress for the outdoors and wear sturdy shoes and sunscreen\, as needed. \nEssex Library programs are free and open to the public.\nRegistration is required.
