Art Explorers: Louise Nevelson and Found Object Sculpture

July 15, 2023 @ 10:00 am

Free

Essex Library wraps up their Art Explorers series on Saturday, July 15 at 10 AM.

For the last session, we’ll look at sculpture artist Louise Nevelson, whose monochromatic wood sculptures containing nested objects gained her recognition as one of the foremost sculptors of the 20th century. Children will read about Ms. Nevelson from the book Women in Art and have the opportunity to create their own found object sculpture. Children will be able to select from an assortment of objects to create their artwork but are invited to bring their own trinkets and items to personalize their pieces.

This program is made possible in part by a $2,000 Summer Enrichment Grant, issued by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.

This program is free and open to children ages 5-12. Registration required. For more information about the program, please call the Essex Library at 860-767-1560 or see https://www.youressexlibrary.org/ The Essex Library is located at 33 West Avenue in Essex.
