Learn About the Mohegan Tribe with the Tantaquidgeon Museum

November 7, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

FREE

Did you know November is Native American Heritage Month?

Enjoy the museum experience at the library! See replicated artifacts, traditional clothing, furs, and other visual materials to imagine what it was like to be in the Eastern Woodlands. By sharing stories, songs, and dances that have been passed down from ancestors, this presentation will show how the Mohegan tribe carries on their traditional ways.

This presentation will be led by David Eichelberg, Mohegan Tribe Outreach and Tradition Specialist with the Tantaquidgeon Museum. This museum, located in Uncasville, is the oldest Native American-owned and operated museum in the United States. The museum’s mission is to share the Mohegan culture, and this interactive program will give participants the unique opportunity to learn about the Mohegan people from their perspective.

Essex Library programs are free and open to the public.

Program recommended for children in grades 1-6 and their families.

Registration is required.
