Struggling Readers Information Series: Reader Builders Workshop
April 4, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FREE
Join Essex Library for a 3-part Zoom series open to parents and teachers who would like to learn more information about reasons why their young readers may be struggling. Each session will be led by different professionals in their field to discuss the possibilities behind children’s reading difficulties.
In the first session, Dr. Juanita Collier, MS, OD, FCOVD and Jessica Liedke of 4D Vision Gym present a free workshop that answers the question, “Why doesn’t my child love to read?” It could be their eyes! Dr. Collier and Ms. Liedke will present information about the relationship between the eyes and the brain, including the interconnection with other neurological processes and how that relationship can affect children’s reading.
Behavioral Optometrist, Dr. Juanita Collier, specializes in post-concussion care, vision-related learning difficulties, visual rehabilitation, and visual development for patients of all ages. She is one of only a few optometrists in Connecticut to have earned Fellowship status by the International Examination & Certification Board (IECB) of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Jessica Liedke is an internationally recognized Certified Optometric Vision Therapist who has been working alongside Dr. Collier with patients of all ages and abilities for over 10 years. Together, they have guided thousands of struggling readers in Connecticut and across the country, helping them transform the way they see and unlocking a love of reading. Essex Library programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required to receive Zoom link.
