Walking Tour of Essex

Guided Walking Tour of Main Street, Essex, from the Foot of Main Street to St. John’s Church, back down to the CT River Museum. About a 1 hour tour on relatively level ground.

Tour will address the major people, places and events that shaped the streetscape of lower Main Street, Essex, from about 1750-1950. Each guide-led tour captures the rich maritime history of 18th century “Potapaug,” its working waterfront and ship-building prominence in the early 19th century as well as its development as a beautiful visitor destination of today.

Cost is $5 per person. Free to members of Essex Historical Society.
