Welcome to Square Foot Gardening
April 20 @ 7:00 pm
FreeDan Williams, a Certified Instructor with the Square Foot Gardening Foundation, says, “Gardening should be fun, not just a lot of work!” Join Dan at the Essex Library to learn about a gardening method that utilizes space efficiently and reduces the waste and work involved with a row garden. The Square Foot Gardening methodology uses raised beds with a special soil, grids for efficient plant spacing, and a minimum of seeds, water, and tools. Even beginners with no prior gardening experience can produce large yields of organic vegetable crops on only 20% of the space and with only 10% of the maintenance labor. Dan grows his own crops from seed and adopted the square foot gardening method after a lifetime of working in traditional row gardens. This program is FREE and open to the public, April 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Essex Library. Call the Essex Library at 860-767-1560 to register and visit https://www.youressexlibrary.org/ for more information.
