Join us for a magical week of arts, crafts, and storytelling along the Connecticut River! This immersive camp invites imaginative explorers to discover the rich history and natural beauty of the River while igniting their creativity and curiosity. Highlights include creating River-inspired paintings, embarking on nature walks, uncovering the myths and legends of the River, crafting original stories, and voyage out on the River boat rides on Onrust and RiverQuest. Swing by the Connecticut River Museum for take-home craft activities that engage kids with the Connecticut River’s stunning wildlife and rich history! Crafts will take place in the Museum’s Boathouse. A program just for kids 4+ and their caregivers, River Tales includes a story and craft activity themed around nature.  Non-members: $3 per learner, Members: FREE! As rain starts to fall, Isaac empties his little jar of water into a pool. Water races the sparkling streams as they tumble over waterfalls, rush through swollen rivers and burst out into the vast open sea. In June, we’ll read The Rhythm of the Rain, a picture book from Greenaway medal-winner, Grahame Baker-Smith that celebrates the water cycle and captures the remarkable movement of water across the earth in all its majesty. Join us at Essex Library on select Mondays in August for a 3-part meditation series led by local Meditation Coach, Caryl Horner. Meditation has proven to be a practice that helps to reduce stress and improve physical, mental and emotional health. The series, consisting of three 45-minute classes, will progressively lead participants through an introduction to the practice. Monday, August 18 “Creating Your Meditation Practice” This class will cover the benefits of regular meditation, the details on the frequency, length of time, etc. of a regular individual meditation practice, as well as a resource list on meditation. About Caryl Horner Caryl helps people learn how to meditate individually and in groups, and assists them to develop and continue this practice. She owns The Dharma Room, a meditation business in Chester. She has worked in healthcare for more than 40 years. She has a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Connecticut College and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Connecticut.
