    J.McLaughlin are holding a Sip & Shop event to raise funds for Safe Futures - a non-profit organisation, whose aims are to stop abuse, restore hope and save the lives of those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, trafficking, elder abuse and child abuse in Southeastern Connecticut.

    Registration for the 2026  Ivoryton Pumpkin Chase is open! The Ivoryton Pumpkin Chase is a 5K Road/Trail Race to benefit the Ivoryton Library and takes place Saturday, October 17 at 9am! The race begins and ends on Ivoryton Green, and runs through Falls River Preserve. Walkers are also encouraged! Walkers will do a 2-mile loop from Ivoryton Green to the Falls River Preserve trail head and back, Among the prizes awarded after the Chase will be a new award for best costume! So show us your creativity! All the race details are at the link where you can also register to run or walk.

    Celebrate the holidays in historic style as you visit at least 8 historic private homes on the Essex Holiday House Tour, December 12, 2026.  All of the featured homes are located within walking distance of Essex Village, including Essex Historical Society’s (EHS) Pratt House. This year's Holiday House Tour also includes discounted admission to CT River Museum, a chance to walk through Essex's historic churches, our curated boutique at Essex Town Hall, and costumed carolers throughout downtown. It is sure to be a highlight of the season and a great way to end our America 250 year! The tour supports Essex Historical Society’s mission of engaging and inspiring the community through local history. Please note that all sales are FINAL. Refunds will NOT be given for any reason. Thank you for your understanding.  Early-bird tickets are $60 until November 1.  Tickets will cost $70 on the day of the tour.
