    For jazz concert rescheduled from February, Essex Winter Series Jazz Advisor Jeff Barnhart is thrilled to announce the return of fan favorite Vince Giordano, who will lead his incredible jazz orchestra – The Nighthawks – for an afternoon of Hot and Sweet Music of the 1920s and ‘30s! Beyond at an Essex Winter Series performance, you have probably heard or seen these outstanding musicians in many movies and streaming series, but Vince told Jeff that our audiences are among the most rewarding he's performed in front of, averring “It's like returning to visit old friends!” Indeed, this concert marks the fifth time the group has appeared with Essex Winter Series, making it the most requested jazz ensemble in the history of the series!     UPDATE: We regret that we must postpone our Sunday, February 22, concert. Cancellation notices are widespread in news outlets and on social media, and we are attempting to personally reach every person on our ticketholder list. The weather forecasted and time frame for the upcoming storm would not have ensured timely removal of snow and the safety of everyone to be able to attend, especially those traveling from out of state.     Having captivated audiences worldwide, Chanticleer – the Grammy® Award-winning choral ensemble of 12 male voices – again appears for an Essex Winter Series concert with a soaring, spellbinding program called Without A Song. The group notes that "Music can lead us to places we never expected. It can inspire us forward, or it can hold us back. Music’s power has been the subject of wonder and speculation for millenia. Its ability to influence people has been both lauded and derided. Music has been called both divine and diabolical. In Without a Song, Chanticleer explores music’s power throughout the ages. Repertoire includes Medieval and Renaissance motets by Guillaume de Machaut and Orlando di Lasso, a new work by the Grammy-nominated composer Ayanna Woods, and a new version of the jazz standard Without a Song, arranged for us by Stacey Gibbs."   • Con Brio Christmas Concerts

    In celebration of Sir John Rutter’s 80th birthday, Con Brio presents Sir John Rutter’s Christmas. In the words of the New York Times, “John Rutter is the composer who owns Christmas” Con Brio’s Christmas Concerts with the Con Brio Festival Orchestra, and Con Brio Chorus, will be conducted by Dr. Chris Shepard. The guest soprano soloist is Louise Fauteux. Friday December 12, 2025 at 7.00 PM Sunday December 14, 2025 at 3.00 PM Save the date!  Tickets are $40 or $15 for students. Tickets will be available in September. Patrons are advised to purchase tickets early, as concerts sell out. The performance runs for about 2 hours, including intermission. The concerts feature the Rutter Magnificat, and many of Sir John’s best-loved carols, as well as traditional carol arrangements. This will include carols with audience participation.
