SAVE THE DATE! The 2026 Essex Ed parade will be on Sunday, February 1st at 2 pm, in celebration of Groundhog Day. You can bring your pots and pans and head to Essex Village. Essex Ed, a larger-than-life groundhog, will make his annual pilgrimage from Essex Boat Works on Ferry Street and up Main Street. All are invited to join with noisemakers and your festive groundhog gear! Who will Essex Ed be? As always, Ed’s costume is a secret until his parade appearance. Each year a community organization dresses him in a costume that acknowledges a person or special occasion. That costume and organization will be revealed on the parade route to Ed’s final place of honor, at the roundabout on the top of Main Street.

The Essex Park and Recreation Commission is pleased to announce that the members of the Essex America 250 Semi-Quincentennial Committee have been selected to serve as Grand Marshal of the 2026 Essex Go Bragh Parade, to be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The Grand Marshals will lead the parade through the Village of Essex on Saturday, March 21. The parade will step off at 11:00 a.m. from Essex Town Hall, travel through the village to Ferry Street, turn up Pratt Street, and disburse at Cross Street. This annual tradition is the signature event of Essex Park and Recreation’s spring season and will feature a variety of parade units, including Irish dancers, pipers and drum corps, local nonprofits, businesses, students, scouting organizations, and sports groups. All are welcome to attend. Community members interested in participating are encouraged to gather a group and march. Having captivated audiences worldwide, Chanticleer – the Grammy® Award-winning choral ensemble of 12 male voices – again appears for an Essex Winter Series concert with a soaring, spellbinding program called Without A Song. The group notes that "Music can lead us to places we never expected. It can inspire us forward, or it can hold us back. Music’s power has been the subject of wonder and speculation for millenia.
