The Park & Rec summer concert featuring Local Honey scheduled for tonight, Tuesday July 8th, has been cancelled. The National Weather Service said that a "slow moving frontal boundary will interact with a tropical air mass to bring showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Locally heavy rainfall is possible and rainfall rates may be near, or exceed, 2" per hour at times. This rainfall could lead to flash flooding." The weather service said the severe thunderstorm threat is most likely between 2-10 p.m. and that a "few thunderstorms may be severe with damaging wind gusts in excess of 58 mph." The best chance for severe thunderstorms is in lower Fairfield County, but there is a chance all across the state. Essex Park and Recreation is excited to be able to offer another great set of bands this year for our 2025 Summer Concert Series.  Hosted on alternating Tuesdays at The Ivoryton Green and Wednesdays at The Essex Main Street Park, concerts take place at 6:30pm from July 2 through August 13th. Please carefully note the location as our venue changes each week. July 16 – Essex Village Main Street Park – Shorebreak. Shorebreak is a 4-piece indie rock band playing original music with a wide range of influences. Led by singer-songwriter Sharif Okasha, the songs pull from a wide range of musical styles, and range from indie pop to reggae, rock, folk, and blues.

Drawing its musical influences from American roots music — swing, boogie-woogie, and Motown- Eight to the Bar is known for its outstanding instrumentalists and sophisticated musical and vocal arrangements, highlighted by female vocals. With the support of independently produced CDs and videos, Eight to the Bar has cultivated a large, enthusiastic following that has put them in clubs from Maine to Miami as well as Europe and the Caribbean. Their rigorous touring schedule has included opening spots for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Manhattan Transfer, Robert Cray, the late Roy Orbison and Ray Charles, several European tours, and a tour of the Republic of Georgia at the invitation of the U.S. Embassy located there. July 22 – Ivoryton Village Green – The Blue Cherry Band is a powerhouse ensemble comprised of talented and experienced musicians each bringing their unique flair to the stage. Enjoy an amazing evening filled with a vast repertoire of songs and fun.

July 30 – Essex Village Main Street Park –Brian Blumenthal aka “Bloomer” has been entertaining the masses for the past 17 years.  His song selections span decades and many genres of music.  Bloomer knits these songs into a seamless show making sitting in your seat nearly impossible.

August 5 - Ivoryton Village Green- Southern Voice is a contemporary Country Cover band that plays all the chart hits today, as well as some other genres of music to keep the crowd up and on the dance floor. Though they are a country band, they play many other artists to cover the pop, rock, southern rock, and dance genres. Their goal is to make sure your time with them is one to remember.
